What is bullion?
Precious metals like gold, silver, palladium, platinum, rhodium and other precious metals are often called bullion.

Is GST (goods and service tax) applicable for bullion purchases?
Bullion like gold, silver and platinum in investment form are GST exempt.

Why should I buy gold and silver bullion?
The rising price of both gold and silver tells the story. Gold and silver were the first form of money for 4,000 years and if something can last that long, then you can be sure it would last for many years to come. In the past 5 years, gold prices have gone from an average US$560 to US$1,700 which is an increase of 203%. Similarly, silver prices have gone from an average US$9 to US$35 in the past 5 years, which is a massive increase of 289%. Literally, silver has out beaten gold in terms of price increase.

Do all PAMP,Valcambi and Argor Heraeus gold bars come with an assay card?
Most PAMP, Valcambi and Argor Heraeus gold bars that Gold De Royale sells come with an assay card. The assay card confirms the certificate number, weight and fineness of the gold bar. Large PAMP, Valcambi and Argor Heraeus gold bars may not come with an assay card. This is because of their weight. Larger bars are authenticated by PAMP, Valcambi and Argor Heraeus and carry its official seal, fineness and weight on the bar.

Are the prices for bullion (precious metals) shown on the website in Australian dollars?
Yes, all prices shown on the website for all bullion products are in Australian dollars.

Why is the Swiss gold bar considered to be one of the best in the world? Isn’t a gold bar the same regardless of where it is from?
No, gold bars are not the same regardless of where they are from. For example, a car made in Australia and a Rolls Royce made in the United Kingdom are, at the end of the day, both cars used to transport people. However, it is the quality and precision of how they are made which makes them unique and magnificent.
Furthermore, the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA, www.lbma.org.uk) recognises only five gold refining companies in the world as approved Good Delivery Referees out of 600 Precious Metal Refiners. They are:

PAMP Gold of Switzerland
Argor-Heraeus of Switzerland
Metalor Technologies of Switzerland
Rand Refinery Limited of South Africa
Tanaka Kikinzoku Kogyo K.K. of Japan

The LBMA could take the attitude that all gold refining companies produce 999.9 pure gold. Unfortunately this is not how it works in international gold markets. The LBMA is the most prestigious gold association in the world, where gold prices are fixed, and the five Good Delivery Referees represent the highest quality attainable. That is why Gold De Royale believes in selling only the best to our customers, giving good value for your money.

There are many gold refining companies that sell gold bars. How do I know which company to choose before I buy their gold bar?
You need to make sure that the precious metal refiner which manufactures the bullion is recognised as a Good Delivery Refiner or as a Good Delivery Referee by the London Bullion Market Association. You will be surprised to know that many multi-billion dollar gold companies in Australia and around the world are not even listed, or have even been removed from, the Good Delivery List of Acceptable Refiners. The London Bullion Market Association uses stringent criteria for recognition purposes. As a customer, you need to make sure that you are getting good value for your money.

Who can buy gold bars/silver bars from Gold De Royale?
Anyone can buy from us. We sell to gold bullion dealers, collectors, investment firms, companies, jewellers and individuals.

Can I come in person and have a look at the different gold/silver bars that you have?
Due to security reasons and the high risk of hold-ups, we cannot accommodate this. We have a fully secure online ordering system and are able to take your order as soon as we receive it. What you see on our website is what you get. Please take the time to read the bar specifications as they differ from one bar to another.

What is the difference between a cast bar and a minted bar?
A cast bar is a bar that is taken directly from a cast and is no longer refined. A minted bar is a highly refined bar which is aesthetically more pleasing than the cast bar. Therefore, minted bars are more expensive than cast bars.

Why does my silver bar/coin has brown discolouration or tarnish?

When silver comes in contact with air, silver naturally reacts with hydrogen sulphide in the air to create a very thin layer of tarnish. This is a natural process. High humidity climates, prevalent in Australia, will accelerate the tarnishing process, depending on your geographic location.  Based on the finishing of the coins/bars, this process might be faster or slower.

Can brown discoloration or tarnish reduce the value of my silver bar/coins?

No, tarnish or brown discoloration cannot reduce the value of silver bullion because tarnish is a natural event. Moreover, you have purchased the silver bullion as an investment item not as a collector or a proof coin.

Why do even some brand-new minted bars (bullion) have scratches or streak marks?
Because the bars are minted in large chunk of blocks, they will have minor scratch or streak marks of the refinery machine on it. Again, this by no way reduces the value of the bullion.

Is there any way that I can protect my silver bars from tarnish or further discoloration?

Yes you can, but you still need to remember the golden rule which is tarnish on silver is a natural event. You can store your silver in air tight containers and add one bag of silica gel in the airtight container.  The silica gel bag will absorb the moisture from the container.  You may also use air tight bags that are suitable to store silver.

Why do cast bars have imperfections, scratches and abrasions?
As cast bars are used for investment purposes, it does not need much refining. Because it’s taken directly from a cast, it will have the above-mentioned imperfections. As an investor, you need to remember that the value of a cast bar mainly depends on the refiner who manufactures them. Therefore, before buying a cast bar, make sure that the refiner who refined them is an approved Good Delivery Refiner of the London Bullion Market Association.

Once I have made my purchase can I come in person and collect my order?
Due to security reasons and the high risk of hold ups, we cannot accommodate this. We do not have a walk in facility for customers. We can only ship your order.

Do you buy back gold/silver/palladium/platinum bullion bars?
Yes we buy them back from customers who have purchased from us. If you did not buy the bullion from us, then we cannot buy it back.

Can I place a phone order?
We recommend all customers to email us with their orders. For legal reasons, we need to have proof of orders submitted by our clients. Therefore, it is mandatory that all clients email us with their orders. As phone orders cannot be recorded and as there is no proof of what is being said, it is mandatory that all customers email us with their orders or email us if they want to know the price of precious metals.

Do all bullion items look exactly as per the photos on the website?
Photos for all bullion products shown on the website are for illustrative purposes only and are sold as an investment item, for investment purposes only (Gold De Royale does not sell them as gift items). In international precious metal markets, bullion items like gold and silver are classified as currency under International Standard Organisation (ISO) regulations. Therefore, there will be a difference when you buy them in relation to its packaging or design as these are changed by the refiners all the time.

How do I contact you if I need to enquire about something?
The best way is to email us.

I have transferred the money from my bank account to yours. How do I provide a print screen proof that I have transferred the money?
This is very simple. Once you have transferred the money you will get a confirmation on your computer screen saying that the money has been transferred. When you see this message, on your keyboard you will see a key called “Prt Scr” or “Print Screen”. Press this once or twice. Then open Microsoft Word and, in a new document, paste the print screen and save the document. Once you have saved the document, you can send it to us via email.

I use a Mac and I cannot find the “Prt Scr” or “Print Screen” key on the keyboard in order to take a print screen proof of the wire transfer.

Press the following keys simultaneously Shift-Apple-3 on a Mac to take a screenshot.

How do I know when my order has been dispatched?
As soon as your order has been dispatched we will send you an email stating that your item has been shipped, along with the shipping and tracking details.

Once the package is dispatched, how long will it take to receive the order?
Courier deliveries take one to three business days, depending on your location within Australia. Registered Post can take anywhere between one to six business days. International shipments via FedEx International can take up to six or seven business days for delivery.

What security measures do you take when sending bullion?
All our packages are carefully and discretely wrapped by two of our staff. Each item is checked independently and countersigned before the contents are sealed in the box for each customer. A special security tape is wrapped around the box, which if removed will clearly show evidence of tampering. Before dispatching all purchase orders, we keep a record of each Swiss gold bar serial number that we dispatch, so that, if it gets lost or stolen during transit, we can report it to the appropriate authorities for investigation. We do not give any indication on the packaging as to the contents inside.

Can you ship my order to a post office (PO) box?

Yes we can ship to post office (PO) boxes via registered mail and via courier services, subject to Gold de Royale's Shipping Terms and Conditions. May not be possible always for high value shipments.
